GOYA leadership roles defined
Coordinator: Responsible for delegating responsibilities and coordinating efforts. This job requires a history of commitment as well as involvement in GOYA events, fundraisers, meetings and service projects. Regular attendance at liturgy is also a pre-requisite. Nominee must exhibit leadership, strong moral character, friendliness with adults and other GOYAns, and be a problem solver. Must be an example of a practicing Orthodox Christian who is faithful in their spiritual/prayer life and keeps the fasts of the Church.
Assistant Coordinator: This position should be filled with someone who exhibits the same characteristics as the Coordinator and must be prepared to assist the coordinator when needed.
Communication Chairperson: Calls GOYAns prior to meetings and events, assists with web site and information. This job requires basic computer skills and lovely phone manners. Someone who is on friendly terms with other GOYAns, is dependable and committed and has strong parental support.
Worship Chairperson: Seeks the advice of priest or advisor to plan prayers, works with advisor to plan spiritual lessons/activities, encourages attendance at church services. This job requires a history of commitment to GOYA as well as regular involvement in all GOYA events and meetings. Must be able to work closely with the advisor to plan upcoming lessons. Must be a regular attendee of Liturgies and church functions. Should exhibit a positive and uplifting attitude. Must be an example of a practicing Orthodox Christian who is faithful in their spiritual/prayer life and keeps the fasts of the Church.
Fellowship Chairperson: Helps plan fellowship activities, helps with planning for retreats. This person must have a history of regular attendance at all GOYA events, meetings and fundraisers. Must work well with others and be friendly and outgoing. An active parent is necessary in order to assist the GOYAn.
Witness Chairperson: Encourages GOYAns to invite visitors, helps plan spiritual studies, encourages learning about the Faith. Will work with fellowship chairperson to plan activities that involve outreach to non-GOYA members. This person must have a history of regular attendance at all GOYA events, meetings and fundraisers. Must work well with others and be friendly and outgoing. Should exhibit a positive and uplifting attitude. Must be an example of a practicing Orthodox Christian who is faithful in their spiritual/prayer life and keeps the fasts of the Church.
Service Chairperson: Plans service projects, encourages volunteering at parish level as well as in the community. This person should exhibit a willingness to devote their time to aiding others. Must be responsible and committed to planning several service projects throughout the year.
Hospitality Chairperson: Arranges refreshments for meetings and events, greets visitors to the church. Must work well with others and be friendly and outgoing. Regular attendance at liturgy is also a pre-requisite. Should exhibit a positive and uplifting attitude. Will play a major role in all district events hosted by our parish. Will work with advisor to prepare food for campouts and other group activities/events. Will make visitors, especially potential GOYAns, feel welcome at our church.
Treasurer: Be willing to work with advisor and Connie Morgan to keep track of money in the GOYA account. Must be honest and responsible enough to count monies earned at fundraisers and see that it is delivered to Connie Morgan for deposit. Must be prepared to put together a brief report when necessary.
Historian: Must own a digital camera and be willing to take photos at GOYA events.
